chillin 4tet

The Chillin’ 4tet is a collective of 4 musicians from 4 different countries that are sharing some similar tastes and distastes in music. Their concept is sometimes playing songs in a kind of post-swing era way, or playing completely improvised music that borders with noise, and most likely – something in between that two. Even though their initial concept is to musically ”chill” on the stage, they usually end up being as wild and explosive as much as contemplative. But the concept is broader than the music itself – the band likes to live it in everyday life, taking it easily and enjoying simple things that life brings.

Ziv Taubenfeld

 Ziv Taubenfeld

Born in Israel, 1986, Ziv started playing the stick with holes as part of the school orchestra at the age of 10. During his studies at the Karmiel conservatory, gradually he changed his main instrument to the Bass Clarinet (bigger stick) in search for a deeper sound. During this period he started developing an interest in improvisation which resulted in his love for jazz. After travelling in South America and Europe, Ziv is now a student at the Prince Claus Conservatoire, Groningen, playing with the finest of the finest, or as we say in the south of France, creme de la creme!

Miguel Petruccelli

Miguel Petruccel

Saw the light the 26th of April 1987 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Playing some rock and heavy metal in the extensive Uruguayan scene, discovered his taste for electric guitar. He did some normal life at home until he moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil in search of Caipirinha. With the guitar on his back, he studied some jazz chords while tapping his feet to samba. In 2009, again with the guitar on his back, he moved to the Netherlands to study in Prince Claus Conservatoire where he met Groningen’s Finest (Ziv, Vashko and Lav), and been chillin’… working with them since 2012. Right now, he is finishing his studies at PCC.

Vasil Hadjigrudev

Vasil Hadjigrudev

Born on 6th October 1987 in Bulgaria. After a brief career as a singer and bass player in numerous hardcore/punk bands he changed 180º to jazz double bass inspired to do so by the great Charles Mingus. Despite the fact that Vasil started playing the double bass at the age of 19, just two years after, he was already playing with some of Bulgaria’s finest. Great help for the new player were the master classes of Milcho Leviev (which he attended three years in a row). After some time spent on Bulgaria’s jazz scene, Vasil, looking for more knowledge and experience, enrolled in Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where he is still now.

Lav Kovač

Lav Kovac

Born and raised in Novi Sad, Serbia. From early age he was surrounded by all kinds of artists and all sorts of other weird people, so it was not a surprise that Lav took up the percussion and at age of 11 played his first solo concert on pans and other kitchenware. From then on it continued, through playing in the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, the Accordion Orchestra ”Sonja Marinković”; with Darko Rundek, Keckec & Acid Folk Orchestra, participating as musician in various performances of the Serbian National Theatre; was one of the few selected from Serbia for the EuroMed project 2010; Since 2008 he is a regular member of various ensembles of Boris Kovač. His life path led him to study jazz drums at the Prince Claus Conservatoire, where he met the rest of the Chillin’ gang.
