 | The pianist 
            Josip Lorbek was born in 1933 in Vrsac into a musical family. He 
            finished Music High School "Isidor Bajic" in 1952, class of 
            professor Stular. Between 1954 and 1958 he studied at the Faculty of 
            Philosophy, where he graduated at the department of German and 
            English Language. In 1959 he enters the Radio Novi Sad Octet 
            as its leader. In 1961 it developed into Dance Orchestra of Radio 
            Novi Sad. From 1969 to 1971 he studied in Graz at Music Academy, 
            Jazz Department composition and conduction. He has participated in 
            summer campuses at Berkley School in Boston. He has been 
            the conductor of Dance Orchestra of Radio Novi Sad since 
            1981. Appeared at jazz festivals – I, II. III Jazz Festival in Bled, 
            Jazz Festival in Skopje, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Novi Sad, Belgrade, and 
            abroad – in Budapest, Berlin, Burghauzen. Taken part in all meetings 
            of dance and jazz orchestras of Yugoslavia in Radenci. Especially 
            devoted to discovering young talents, jazz singers, in Novi Sad and 
            other cities.
 He composes and 
            arranges jazz compositions for big bands. Some of his works have 
            also been performed by orchestras abroad.
 Last year, 
            Josip Lorbek celebrated the 50th anniversary of his work as an 
            artist. He is one of those who have been struggling to gain back the 
            characteristics of a town of music, especially jazz, for Novi Sad 
            and fought for the affirmation of young talented 
            musicians.
 He received Charter of the Association 
            of Jazz Musicians of Yugoslavia and Culture Spark of Vojvodina 
            (Iskra kulture 
    Vojvodine).
