NOVI SAD
DAYS OF JAZZ was and in our memory still is a festival worth
mentioning within the cultural space of a country we've lived in.
Partly gathering again the team that gave to Novi Sad this famous
manifestation back in 1979., we wonted to bring it back from
oblivion. Judging by those who performed at NOVI SAD DAYS OF JAZZ ,
this festival was often mentioned inside, as well as outside of our
administrative borders. It was good! Our main intention
was to advance JAZZTIMEFEST, who took place in November 1997 and
1998 at the Cultural Center of Novi Sad, into the NOVI SAD JAZZ
FESTIVAL. And we did it!
NOVI SAD
JAZZ FESTIVAL 1999 belonged mainly to Novi Sad, but on the other
hand it also belonged to Belgrade, Niš, Pančevo, Valjevo, Čačak… It
was an international event. A fresh start.
At that
time besides the existing Festival Novi Sad lacked a proper Jazz
scene, Jazz Club and Fun Club but our ambitions were not
corresponding to our financial possibilities.
We've
waited for a chance and made some improvements as soon as we
could!
In year 2000
NOVI SAD JAZZ FESTIVAL became NOVI SAD OLD GOLD JAZZ FESTIVAL.
Except the Executive Board and the Town Council of Novi Sad ,
decisive support came from BEČEJ BREWERY. Together with that, came
many other different but significant ones. On behalf of all jazzers
we want to use this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to
them! Surly we won't forget that!
NOVI SAD OLD
GOLD JAZZ FESTIVAL has primarily the local character but is an
international event. Cultural Center of Novi Sad became pretty
tight! We wanted the Festival to be even better! We choose success
and the support wasn't missing!
NOVI SAD OLD
GOLD JAZZ FESTIVAL 2001!

performers and artists this privilege will appertain to Mr. Josip
Lorbek, pianist, composer and arranger.
Decisive but
expected support to NOVI SAD OLD GOLD JAZZ FESTIVAL came from Novi
Sad Town Council. Festival remained Old Gold thanks to BEČEJ
BREWERY, and Festival was also supported by County Ministry of
Education and Culture, and without Republic of Serbia Ministry of
Culture people of Novi Sad, Belgrade and Niš wouldn't be able to see
Jimmy Cobb. Remember…Miles Davises drummer?!

need the future support. Our ambitions are not yet
fulfilled!
