“JAZZ in the 21 st Century”
A musical language of getting to know one another and communication among musicians and a kaleidoscope of music heritages of artists from different parts of the world In our time, we have been encountering music groups composed of musicians from different parts of the world, who do not belong to the same nations, and each of them noticeably always brings a musical expression closely related to one’s motherland. This music workshop seeks to bring closer to the students the experiences and methods of work of musicians from different countries who have not known each other before, in this case on a new authorial project Soularity of Vladimir Samardžić. Contributing their own personal experiences, as well as music heritage of the places they grew up in, the four jazz musicians have created a unique setting where through interaction and improvisation they deliver their musical message to the audiences. Another topic of the workshop is the importance of music heritage in jazz music and its influence on the artistic development of each individual artist, as well as the use of these elements in shaping one’s own musical expression on their respective instruments. Moreover, the workshop will also involve work on new compositions where there is room left for personal interpretation of particular segments of the numbers.
