The Free Funk Society is a collective of Arnas Mikalkėnas, Tadas Petkevičius-Grajauskas and Kęstutis Sova. They are known for their improvisations and rebellious temper. FFS can be described as a mix of avant-garde jazz, traditional groove, rock and funk. The trio draws inspiration from the 70s when this term was coined by Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry. The members of FFS share a common musical perspective and ideas. FFS value tradition, they balance composed music and improvisation, although the esthetics are not the main priority in their music.
