“El Sistema” is a visionary global project supported, in Serbia, by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia, National Committee for UNESCO and the State Office for Social Inclusion (SIPRU) that, as a new model of social change, changes the lives of children of disadvantaged background through music.El Sistema uses music as a tool for social inclusion and includes four million children around the world. Dueto itslongevity and efficiency, El Sistema has been declared the world’s best inclusion programme by UNESCO. The programme is implemented in Serbia by the association Music Art Project in six cities and it includes 500 children from middle and lower social strata, but the programme is mainly oriented towards the children belonging to marginalised social groups. The El Sistema music workshops are organised in a cooperative effort of the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, the association Music Art Project and the Centre for Social Work, whose wards are the workshop students. Workshop is accompanied by the choir Vivak of Primary School Dušan Radović conducted by Snežana Jezdić Protić.

 

GERARDO ESTRADA MARTINEZ

Gerardo Estrada Martínez is one of the rising conductors of great international range. The winner of the “Golden Baton” in the International Conducting Competition 3.0 (Paraguay – Spain) has been distinguished in other international contests, such as the International Danube Conducting Competition (Budapest, Hungary), where he obtained the Second Place and the Special Award of the Orchestra, and the International Black Sea Conducting Competition (Constanta, Romania), where he was a finalist and obtained the Special Award of the Orchestra. Born in Caracas, Venezuela on August 5, 1980Gerardo Estrada Martínez at an early age received profound education as a violinist, which was later followed by studying the percussion. The mastery of different instruments has greatly enriched the work of Maestro Estrada. He learnt conducting from outstanding teachers of Venezuela and Spain, graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Gerardo Estrada Martínez constantly hones his professional skills and techniques through participating in workshops all over the world. Due to his experience in the world famous “El Sistema” Orchestras in Venezuela, he obtained unique orchestral and educational practice in his home country. This motivated him to teach young generations of musicians, which he still does successfully on the international level. Estrada is a kind of composer who works in various genres. He is a great fan of Venezuelan folk music which inspires him to create his symphonic works. Gerardo Estrada Martínez has also excelled in Cultural Management. He has held the position of Secretary of State for Culture in Carabobo, Venezuela. For almost eight years he worked as the First Secretary of the Embassy and Coordinator of the Latin-American Cultural center “Simón Bolívar” in Minsk, Belarus. As a conductor, Gerardo Estrada Martínez has performed with outstanding orchestras on prestigious stages of such countries as Spain, Portugal, Russia, Belarus, Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Cyprus, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Hungary, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Dominican Republic, etc. His extensive repertoire includes music from different periods, from ancient to contemporary music, and different genres, such as opera, ballet and symphonic music. His interpretations of symphonic – choral sacred music (cantatas, oratories, masses, requiems, etc.), which he performs with a special touch, have been highly praised by critics. A special emphasis in his repertoire is put on Latin-American music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Maestro Estrada is a conductor in permanent search of excellence. Every move of his baton transmits his infinite love for music. But the main thing is that Gerardo Estrada strongly believes in transforming power of music and the powerful effect it can have on people. He believes that music can help create a better world.

 

MAJA VUKOBRAT

MajaVukobratis a pianist and music pedagogue involved in the El Sistema programme, as well as a piano teacher at the Elementary Music School “Josip Slavenski” in Novi Sad. In her career she has won more than 30 awards in national and international piano competitions, among which the recognition of the Laureate of AP Vojvodina for Outstanding Results in the Field of Arts (2014) stands out. She has been engaged as an El Sistema teacher in Novi Sad since the very beginning. She is an active member of the chamber duo “Sunrise”, and is active as a creator of original music for the brands Cafe del Mar Music, M Sol Records, and Dolce&Gabbana.

 

GORAN MILOŠEV


Born in Novi Sad in 1988, GoranMilošev showed his interest in music since early childhood, which led to education in this field. After completing Music School“IsidorBajić”, he went on to study Ethnomusicology at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where he defended his Master thesis in 2014. He started his PhD course in 2017, also at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Department of Ethnomusicology. During his career he has been active in publishing, and mainly education. He has worked in a number of Cultural-Artistic Societies, music schools, and in 2017, through the ElSistema project and the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, he started working in the day care centre of the Centre for Social Work as a singing teacher.
