THE ALEKSANDAR DUJIN ORCHESTRA was founded twenty years ago and has, so far, gathered over forty artists of various music orientations who take part in different projects.
Aleksandar Dujin Duja celebrated the 40th anniversary of his authorial engagement three years ago. During this period he has formed a number of orchestras performing his original music.
He has appeared on the stage of the Novi Sad Jazz Festival five times in the main and twice in the introductory programme, each time with a different original programme, inspired and adapted to the formations he performed with.
This year, at the 21st Novi Sad Jazz Festival, the Aleksandar Dujin Orchestra appears in the formation gathering ten musicians who have all played with Dujin in different periods of time. The Novi Sad Jazz Festival opening concert will feature musicians who have already shared the Festival stage with Dujin.
The Aleksandar Dujin Orchestra will play a programme of original compositions previously prepared for the formation appearing together for the first time now, but also new compositions that will be premiered here, so the entire programme will offer a comprehensive overview of Aleksandar Dujin’s forty years of authorial work.
Hoping that the Aleksandar Dujin Orchestra will give a concert worthy of opening this year’s Novi Sad Jazz Festival, and that the audience and musicians who are to appear will enjoy good music and feeling, I am looking forward to the concert on 14th November 2019 in the Great Hall of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.

Aleksandar Dujin
MILENA JANČURIĆ
Flutist, born in Novi Sad, Milena Jančurić graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2010. In the summer 2011 she went on to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. She graduated, Magna cum laude, in 2013 from the Department of Performance of this contemporary music college of the world renown. Her academic achievement was crowned, at the end of the Spring Semester 2013, with a Performance Division Dean’s Award in Recognition of Outstanding Musicianship.
Over the years and during her studies, she developed an original musical expression, through hard work and diligent professional moulding: improving through collaborations with established artists and musicians such as Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Marco Pignataro, Matt Marvuglio, Ljubiša Jovanović, Fernando Brandao, Scott Free, Mitch Haupers, and many others.
The experience gained in Boston and during the studies at the Berklee College of Music helped Milena to discover new areas of her musical sensibility, besides her pleasure of playing classical music – her propensity for improvisation and composing. This is where she started playing her original music.
In February 2013, she founded the Milena Jančurić Trio, making her debut and successful presentation to the musical audiences of Boston. A Boston based online art magazine, The Art Fuse, reviewed the series of music events When Cultures Converge held in the Art at Armory Cafe as one of the major events of 2015, putting the concert of the Milena Jančurić Trio in the foreground.
Building her solo career, Milena has taken part in a number of concerts and music projects as a soloist or a member of an ensemble, chamber orchestra, small and ad hoc music bands, as a studio musician… Besides her own Milena Jančurić Group, she has performed with musicians and artistic ensembles such as: The Aleksandar Dujin Orchestra, Lazar Novkov & the Frame Orchestra, Sanja Marković Ascension Porject, Women of the World, the Tomoko Ozawa Quintet, Yabuno Ettun Project, the Ehud Ettun Trio, the Gaia Petrelli Willmer Octet, and as a member of the Yakir Arbib project with Vision of Waves, she performed at Washington’s Kennedy Centre in 2013.
Since 2016 she has been successfully collaborating with the musicians gathered around the Internal Compass project in Jerusalem (Israel) with whom she participated in a series of concerts and music workshops throughout Israel, presenting her original music.
She has also performed at a number of venues: from Belgrade’s Kolarac to the Boston Symphony Hall and Rhodes College Hall in Memphis. As a member of the Berklee College Orchestra she played at the concert of the group Dream Theatre at the Boston Opera House. She has performed at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Kennedy Center in Washington, as well as at a number of venues among which is the Boston Cafe 939 and the famous New York jazz club Blue Note. Milena has appeared at the Panama Jazz Festival and Novi Sad Jazz Festival, Green Town Jazz Fest, and Belgrade Jazz Festival.
Besides the towns and cities of Serbia, she has performed in the USA, Panama, Germany, Italy, France, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, and Israel…
ADAM KLEMM
Adam Klemm was born in 1976 in Novi Sad. Upon completing his secondary education at the Music School Isidor Bajić in Novi Sad in the Clarinet Department, he continued his studies at the University of Music And Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. In 2005 he earned a Master Degree in Arts – Jazz Saxophone.
During his Graz studies, he received a scholarship from the Austrian Ministry of Culture and went on to study at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Upon his return from Finland, he played with the legend of the Austrian jazz scene, guitarist Karl Ratzer and released a CD with the Sarajevo-based jazz group Minorit. He has performed with: Dennis Rowland, Gianni Basso, Lee Harper Little Big Band, Karl Ratzer, Barbara Hendriks, Ladislav Fidri, among others.
As a bandleader of The Adam Klemm Banda, he had his first release Hot Coolen for the independent label Sensor Records in 2007. The second CD Nostalgija (2015) was released with his wife Sandra Klemm for the independent label Celinka. The third project, Instant Pleasure (2019) was released under the ZKP RTV Slovenia label.
Klemm has been an endorser of P. Mauriat saxophones for Southeast Europe since 2008. A permanent soloist of the RTV Slovenia Big Band since 2008, he also teaches saxophone and jazz band in the music school GCEW in Ljubljana and is a regular mentor at the Jazz Camp Kranj. Klemm is a member of the Novi Sad Jazz Festival Council.
As a member of the RTV Slovenia Big Band, he has had the honour to share the stage with jazz greats such as: Mike Stern, Ernie Watts, Joe Lovano, Ronnie Cuber, Patti Austin, Peter Erskine, and Nicholas Payton, among others.
GABOR BUNFORD
Gabor Bunford graduated in clarinet and saxophone from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
He is one of the most prominent saxophonists on the domestic stage, who collaborates with the most prominent musicians of our show business.
He was awarded the Dr. Ferenc Bodrogvári award, by the city of Subotica in 2010 for his work in education.
He is a permanent member of the Novi Sad Big Band and has been the Art Director of Jazzik International Subotica Jazz Festival since 2010. He currently works at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad as a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Classical Saxophone Department.
DRAGAN KOZARČIĆ
Dragan Kozarčić was born on 13.01.1964 in Novi Sad. He received his elementary and secondary music education in Novi Sad. During his trumpet studies at the FMU in Belgrade, he played in the Serbian National Theatre’s orchestra and the academic Big Band led by Steve Gut and Eduard Sadjil. As a student he got a job with the RTNS orchestra where he still works. He has played with famous YU and international musicians such as Miljenko Prohaska, Jože Privšek, Steve Gut, Dusko Goykovich, Giani Basso, Pege Aladar, Bora Roković, Ratko Divjak, Miša Blam, and Bojan Adamić, among others. He has played on the albums of Djordje Balašević, Kornelije Kovač, Tanja Jovičević, Željko Samardžić, and collaborated with the groups Oktobar 1864, YU grupa, Love hunters, Apsolutno romantično, Eva Braun, Popcycle, Krvava Meri, Alisa, OK band. He has also worked with ethno ensembles collaboratiing with Balkanto vero, Kiki bend, Ridi Pagliacco, Miris Balkana, Molitva za jug, to name a few, as well as with many singers and performers of traditional folk music. He is currently engaged as a concert master and soloist of the Novi Sad Big Band. In September 2003, the album Live in studio M- The Dragan Kozarčić Quartet, which was released under the label of PGP RTS. He currently collaborates with Željko Samardžić, Aleksandra and Kristina Kovač, Zoran Kiki Lesendrić-Piloti, Jelena Tomašević, Djordje Balašević, Zdravko Čolić.
VLADIMIR NEŽIĆ
Vladimir Nežić was born on 20th January 1973 in Novi Sad. At the age of 6 he enrolled at the Music School Josip Slavenski in Novi Sad in class of Prof. Dubravko Marković. During the elementary music school he played with a number of chamber ensembles, and wind orchestras, such as ADONS. In 1998 he enrolled at the High Music School Isidor Bajić in class of Prof. Branislav Aksin. With the brass quintet Brass people Vladimir performed at concerts in our country and abroad. His focus shifted towards jazz and rock music, so he started playing as a substitute in the RTV Dance Orchestra. He matriculated in 1992 with excellent grades. In 1992 Vladimir enrolled at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in class of Prof. Vinko Valečić, graduating from the Academy with the highest grade. In 1993 Vladimir started working as a trombone player in the RTV Dance Orchestra, where he was employed until 1998….
With his friends and colleagues, he founded the Youth Big Band, with the help of Aleksandar Dujin. He has been the member of the Novi Sad Big Band since its formation, working and performing successfully for almost twenty years. Since 1998 he is a permanent trombone teacher at the Music School Isidor Bajić in Novi Sad.
ALEKSANDAR DUJIN

VLADIMIR JAKOVLJEVIĆ
Self-taught guitar player, Vladimir Jakovljević, was born (28.12.1978) in Novi Sad. He got his first guitar when he was 11 years old. A couple of years later he got seriously interested in music and guitar, playing with a number of authorial and cover bands, taking part in jam sessions in Novi Sad and neighbouring places.
In 1997, he attended the Jazz School with Prof. Igor Molnar, forming his first jazz band, Jazzwah.
Without any formal music education, he enrolled at the Jazz Academy in Graz, Austria, in 1999, spending a year there working with Prof. Karl Ratzer.
In 2002 he collaborated with Boris Kovač recording his international release Ballads at the End of Time.
In 2005 Vladimir started working with the band Milaćopezo, staying with them for the following 4 years, and recording the album Čekam te, released in 2010.
In the last 20 years, he has been actively working collaborating with Aleksandar Dujin, as a studio musician as well as on projects and at concerts.
He has been a member of the Novi Sad Big Band since 2006, recording the albums Samo muzika and Polaris.
He is active on the music scene where he performs with various artists, as well as in various formations and genres. He is active as a guitar educator as well.
ERVIN MALINA
Ervin Malina is a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
His ability to transform and identify with different music styles enabled him to collaborate with a number of music ensembles.
He is one of the most sought-after double bassists in Novi Sad, especially in the field of improvised and jazz music. He collaborates with the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra and different chamber orchestras (The Novi Sad Chamber Orchestra, Orphelin). He is a member of many ensembles with which he has recorded a number of CDs and had numerous performances in our country and abroad: the Majamisty Trio, the Earth Wheel Sky Band, Serboplov, the Mezei Szilárd Trio and Quartet, the OSSA Quartet, the ensemble MAKUZ (Hungary), etc.
He is also active in Slovak, Hungarian and Serbian folklore ensembles, resulting in a number of CD releases and public performances in our country and abroad…
Ervin Malina has also collaborated with Jozef Nagy, Aleksandar Dujin, Boris Kovač, Vedran Ferizović, Nevena Reljin, the Serbian National Theatre, the Novi Sad Theatre, leading to performances at different festivals in Serbia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Ukraine, Norway and Japan.
PETAR RADMILOVIĆ
Born in 1972 in Belgrade, Petar Radmilović gained his elementary and secondary music education in his hometown. He studied at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, graduating in 2018, while he gained his Master Degree in 2019 earning the title of the MA in Music.
Since 1994 he has been a permanent member of the RTS Big Band. He has worked with Dusko Goykovich, Bora Roković, Steve Gut, Miletom Pavlovićem, Mićom Markovićem, Diane Shuure, Vito Giordano, Don Menza, Ack van Royen, Peter Herbotzheimer, Less Mc Kann, Wilson Oliveira, Shawn Monteiro, Catrine Finch, Nigel Kennedy, Eddie Henderson, Vic Vogel, Jessie Davis, Sreve Turre, Randy Brecker, etc.
His studio work is documented on over fifty recorded albums (Đ. Balašević, Š. Bajramović, Baby Doll, B. Božanić, V. Maričić, group Familija, ACME, etc.), and several hundreds of permanent recordings for the needs of Radio Belgrade.
In 2007 he became endorser of the company Zildjian, and in 2008 of Mapex drums.
