IGOR
MOLNAR
He was born in 1965 in Novi Sad. Composer, arranger and bass player.
Member of Hungarian Music arts association. Studied on Academy of
arts in Novi Sad and “Franz List” Academy in Budapest. Founder of
the first school of jazz in Vojvodina and conductor of Vojvodina
Youth Big Band. Founded and led the HAVANA JAM orchestra. He is also
the editor of Jazz Time Fest in Cultural Centre of Novi Sad.
MIRKO TOPALSKI
He was born in 1982 in Novi Sad and started playing drums in 1998 in
a punk band. Shortly after the NATO bombing he begins playing with
“Obojeni program”, a band from Novi Sad, where he plays since. In
the mean time he becomes interested in jazz and classical
music. He played with many bands: “Flash
Gordon” jazz band, “Hedy Lamar” jazz-rock band, “Lost propelleros”
rege-ska band, “MiMayo 3” avangarde band, “Havona”
band… He composes modern classical music
(short pieces for solo piano) that ought to be played in Novi Sad
Synagogue soon. Works at Novi Sad Old Gold jazz festival since its
beginnings, as a part of the sound technician crew.
MARKO LABAT
Born in 1974 in Novi Sad. During primary music school became more
interested in blues and latter jazz. Finished
“Isidor Bajic” Music high school, Department of theory and piano, in
Novi Sad and afterwards started learning and playing
jazz. Due to the circumstances of lacking jazz
musicians in Novi Sad, he played with the group of musicians form
Belgrade, until recently he got to know people with the same
interests in his own surrounding. At this
moment he plays with several bands, but two of them, MiMaYo3 and
Hedy Lamarr perform publicly. As a studio
musician he recorder several times (Lost Propelleros, Hedy
Lamarr…) He underwent music influences of Joe
Zawinul (Weather Report), Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock,
Oscar Peterson, Jaco Pastorius. Currently
preparing his own material.
VOJISLAV SAVKOV
He was born in 1962 in Novi Sad. He is a self-educated jazz
musician. He picked the tenor saxophone in the age of sixteen but
seriously got into jazz at the age of thirty.
Worked with Igor Molnar Quartet, Youth Big Band, Havana Jam
band. Collaborated on various projects with Vladimir Samardzic,
Vasil Hadzimanov and Aleksandar Dujin.
Performed on jazz festivals in Novi Sad and Pecs (Hungary).
ISTVAN CIK
He was born in 1978 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. In 1993 he gets his
first set of drums on witch he begins to know the world of rhythm.
During 1995, due to the lucky circumstances, he gets connected with
local jazz bands and starts his active participation at the Novi Sad
jazz scene. During the following period of a few years he played
with bands as Safara, Havana Jam, Kat ´n Kat, Lost Propelleros,
Silencio. Currently plays in jazz band Hedy Lamarr. During 1998 he
played percussion in accordion orchestra in KUD “Sonja Marinkovic”,
participated in performing Carl Orf's cantata “Carmina Burana”
together with big orchestra of “Isidor Bajic” music school and
played percussion in Mezei Silard's compositions for shows
“Ogledalo” and “Pripitomljavanje” that were played in Novi Sad
theatre. Collaborated with famous artists and musicians such as
Aleksandar Dujin, Slobodan Trkulja, etc. During the last three years
he intensively collaborates with the composer Boris Kovac and
LADAABA Orchest, with whom he had notable concerts in and out side
of the country, as well as participated at large festivals such as:
Ring Ring Festival 2001 (Belgrade, Yugoslavia), Interzone Festival
2001 (Novi Sad, Yugoslavia), Pepsi Sziget Festival 2001 (Budapest,
Hungary), Festival Alternativa 2001 (Prague, Chec Republic), Alfred
Festival 2001 (Oslo, Norway), World Music festival 2001 (Niigata,
Japan), Moers Jazz Festival 2002 (Moers, Germany), DUNYA Festival
2002 (Rotterdam, Holland), 12. Europäisches Festival 2002
(Recklinghausen, Germany), International Donau Fest 2002 (Ulm,
