11 reasons for….2001
Music of Vasil Hadzimanov Band can be defined as natural harmony of tradition, roots, the most precious music heritage together with the music of today, or even better tomorrow, and what is yet to be revealed.
We talk about the new-born, fully authentic group of musicians. Their power, rapture and talent has been best recognised and supported by PGP RTS music house, that wants to donate a true sound to the lovers of good music. You can name Vasil Hadzimanov's music as jazz, funk, ethno, rock, techno, afro-cuban or pop…and you will always be right. It is all that and something more. It is a fusion of all of those styles, in the same time bringing that fine note of author's contribution that not many of others have.
VASIL HADZIMANOV – piano, keyboard
Studied piano and theory at “Stevan Mokranjac”, one of the oldest music schools in Yugoslavia. In the age of seventeen wins a scholarship of international artistic camp “Interlochen” in Michigan, USA. Next year (1992) he enters Berklee College in Boston and within four years graduates at the department of piano and composition (1995). For the next two years he works and creates in New York together with some eminent jazz names (Milt Jackson, Curtis Fuller, Byron Stripling, Gary Thomas, Matt Garrison, David Gilmore). Every return in Belgrade he dedicates to playing with Yugoslav jazz masters (Dusko Gojkovic – European tour, Stjepko Gut, Jovan Maljokovic – Montreaux jazz festival, European tour…) and young lovers of that music, what at the end resulted in the idea of bringing together foreign and Yugoslav tradition.

Vasil Hadzimanov Band. Vasil needed three years for finding the right band, with witch he performs and tours around the former and present Yugoslavia since May 1997 (concert for JDP in the hall of Kolarac Foundation, Belgrade Summertime Jazz festival, Instrumental Forces in Atelier 212, Humanitarian concert in Berlin, promotive concert of the PGP publishing house in Stutgart; jazz festivals in Novi Sad, Valjevo, Pancevo, Nis, Skoplje and Kumanovo (Macedonia), Cerkno and Maribor (Slovenia), Banja Luka and Zelenkovac, concerts all over Republic of Serpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro…).
In year 2001 the first CD and tape of Vasil Hadzimanov Band named “11 reasons for…” was published by PGP RTS, and its first edition was soled in three months.
VLADIMIR SAMARDZIC – bass guitar
He was born in 1970 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. He plays bass guitar since he was nineteen, and is into music professionally since 1992. Since 1993 he is a member of Review Orchestra of the RTV Novi Sad under conduction of Josip Lorbek, when he begins collaboration with Vasil Hadzimanov. Playing intensively in many clubs in Belgrade and Novi Sad he specialises his instrument at the same time. Since 1995 until 1997 he was a member of a rock band named SMAK and the pupil of Radomir Mihajlovic Tocak. Although without formal music education, in 1997 he becomes a student and a scholarship winner of Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, as well as the winner of Studenica Foundation scholarship. He gained a prize of Department for bass guitar for achieved results and “BMG Jazz” award. During his studies in the States he intensively worked with Bryan Oliver funk Band, Latino band named Papa Loves Mambo, as well as with American singer Gabrielle Goodman. In December 1999 he graduated “cum laude” and after coming back in Yugoslavia becomes a permanent member of Vasil Hadzimanov Band, and founds fusion band Groove Masters in Novi Sad. Collaborates with Latino band Mambo Stars, singer Hana Vucicevic (Speed Limit), Madam Piano and Bisera Veletanlic. Since his return from United States he is also active as a private instructor and the leader of music workshops for bass guitar and harmony. As bass guitar player he was involved in realisation of many home music editions and in few independent American editions. With Vasil Hadzimanov Band he played all around Serbia, Montenegro, Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the festivals in Macedonia and Slovenia, and had important performances at the festivals in Germany (Berlin and Stuttgart). With the Balkanopolis band he stared on festival in Austria (Vienna) “Wiener Fluchtlings Festival” and Holland (The Hague) “North Sea Jazz Festival”. His role models in music are: Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Anthony Jackson, Tony Levin, Victor Bailey and Dave Holland.

He was born in 1975 in Vrsac, Yugoslavia. In period since 1990 until 1994 he begun his career playing in local groups, than he leaves for Belgrade and begins collaboration with eminent blues band HUSH.

Influenced by various music styles (jazz, ethno, world music…) he continues working with many Yugoslav bands (Vroom, Pavle Aksentijevic, Sanja Ilic and Balkanika, Havana Whisper…) that, in their music expressions, show commitment to these kinds of music.
During collaboration with bands of wide music spectre, he manages, throughout his own prism, to express all music qualities that he owns, combining, in an specific manner, percussion playing with sket singing and vocal effects. Music influences: Manolo Badrena, Alex Acuna, Airto Moreira.
