Milan Jančurić: Listening and Improvisation

Jazz music playing is practically unimaginable without improvisation. Players, as well as composers, arrangers, music producers and many others create music by improvising. Through it, they actually explore sounds and harmonies, seeking the best correlations between them. Listening to musicians is never a mere perception of sounds, but a creative process where a musician learns about the world of the sounds surrounding him. This is why listening and improvisation are tightly linked. A musician is an explorer who discovers new soundscapes in the vast world of sounds pushing the boundaries of the known sounds further. Improvisation is crossing the boundary between the already known sound and exploring the unknown and new.

Perhaps this is why jazz is universally attractive?
