"The
Nishville Big-Band" was formed in 1995 as a town festival orchestra
and is composed of Nish musicians. In his cultural mission,
orchestra plays in towns of southeastern Serbia, where they had more
than 150 performances. It is important to
mention the "22. Belgrade Jazz Festival" opening concert, concerts
in Sava Center and Yugoslav Army Club in Belgrade, performance at
the Youth of Serbia Culture Festival, as well as the participation
at all Nishville Festivals. Orchestra also played
with all eminent home jazz and commercial music artists, as vocal or
instrumental soloists (Vladana Markovic, Boba Stefanovic, Ana
Sofrenovic, Hilda Casassian, Leo Martin... Mihajlo Blam, Lazar
Tosic, Fredi Stanisavljevic, Stjepko Gut, Mica Markovic, Eduard
Sadjil... Vojislav Simic, Willy

Mr.
Dragoslav Petrovic conducts the orchestra since its beginning. He
graduated and did his MA at the Nis Philosophical Faculty, Department
of art sociology. Arranges and composes for different bands,
co-operates with home and foreign soloists and conductors, and
explores musical taste development.
